Three new automotive lubricants from the Castrol brand, Castrol Edge, Castrol Magnatec and Castrol GTX Essential, were launched into the Nigerian market on October 6, 2017 in Lagos by Eterna Plc, Castrol’s exclusive distributor in Nigeria, The Sun reports.
Castrol is a world-leading lubricant brand, renowned for a number of high performance products such as Castrol Edge, Castrol Magnatec and Castrol Power 1. Eterna Plc, on the other hand, is a homegrown Nigerian company founded by Otunba Tunji Lawal Solarin.
Eterna, which started importing and distributing Castrol lubricants in Nigeria in 1991, hit a milestone in August 2017 with Castrol GTX Essential, its first product to be produced in Nigeria at its Sagamu blending plant. Eterna PLC is the only company licensed to manufacture and distribute all Castrol products in Nigeria and now has four of the Castrol brands in its portfolio.
Eterna’s blending facility built in 1995, is one of the only three Castrol accredited blending plants in Africa The state-of-the-art lube manufacturing plant is fully owned through its subsidiary Eterna Industries Limited. The Plant is also equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory that undertakes oil analysis as part of the company’s customer support service.
Us Sec. Of Energy To Encourage Us Firms’ Investment In Nigeria’s Oil Sector
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, on Tuesday held a meeting with the Secretary of Energy of the United States of America, Mr. Rick Perry, on the sidelines of the 24th Africa Oil Week currently holding in Cape Town, South Africa, THISDAY reports.
While speaking at the meeting, Perry commended Nigeria on the significant steps taken in the oil and gas industry, stating that the key message and thrust of the US administration is to be strategic partners with Nigeria. While reiterating this message, he further stated that the US government has a high level of respect for the people of Nigeria and pledged willingness to continue to encourage US companies to invest in Nigeria’s oil sector.
A statement from the Director of Press in the Petroleum Ministry, Mr. Idang Alibi, on Wednesday in Abuja, also stated that the United States has offered to help Nigeria develop her skills in new technologies that could help her grow her oil and gas production. According to the statement, Perry told Kachikwu that the US government would be willing to assist Nigeria with access to newer technology and skill set training to deepen her participation in the production of oil.
